Amit Shah Says Rahul Gandhi Must Introspect as Congress Fails to Win Cited Seats
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his allegations concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, urging him to introspect instead of attributing the BJP’s electoral successes to the exercise.

Addressing the issue, Shah questioned whether the BJP’s victories could simply be explained by SIR, asserting that the party’s popularity and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public support should not be dismissed on those grounds. He also criticised the Congress for its electoral performance, calling for serious introspection within the party.

Referring to the by-elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Shah claimed that the Congress failed to win any seats in the contests he cited. He highlighted the BJP’s victories in several constituencies, including Nandigram and Rejinagar in West Bengal, while pointing to the performance of the BJP and its NDA allies elsewhere.
According to Shah, the BJP candidate in Nandigram secured approximately 76% of the votes and won by a margin of around 1.22 lakh votes. In Rejinagar, West Bengal, he claimed that the BJP defeated the Trinamool Congress by more than 75,000 votes. He also cited a BJP victory in Naogaon by approximately 1.42 lakh votes, describing it as a seat wrested from the Congress.
