ASIAN GAMES 2026: Neeru Dhanda Scripts History with Gold in Women’s Trap
Indian shooter Neeru Dhanda delivered a historic performance at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, winning the gold medal in the women’s individual trap event with a stunning score of 28 out of 30 targets.

The 26-year-old’s composed display under pressure saw her finish two shots ahead of China’s Sun Yunong, who claimed silver with 26, while Kuwait’s Hajar Abdulmalik secured the bronze medal.
Dhanda’s victory is historic for Indian shooting. She became the first Indian woman to win an individual Asian Games medal in trap shooting, and she did so by taking the gold. Her 28-hit performance also broke both the Asian Record and Asian Games Record.

The Haryana-born shooter, who serves as a Naib Subedar in the Corps of Military Police, has enjoyed an outstanding 2026 season. In July, she became the first Indian woman to win an individual trap gold medal at an ISSF Shotgun World Cup, achieving the feat in Lonato, Italy.
Dhanda entered the Asian Games as the reigning 2025 Asian champion, and her Nagoya campaign has further strengthened her position among India's leading trap shooters. Alongside her individual gold, she also contributed to India's team silver medal, completing a memorable double at the Games.
Her landmark performance adds another chapter to India's growing success in shooting at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026.
