Swapan Dasgupta Hails GST Reforms at 57th GST Council Meet
Delhi: At the 57th GST Council meeting, West Bengal Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta said the Goods and Services Tax (GST) remains highly useful for a state like West Bengal, with a significant portion of the stateβs revenue accruing through GST.

Speaking about the meeting, Swapan Dasgupta said the rationalisation of various proposals could benefit West Bengal in the long run.
He particularly highlighted measures related to Ease of Doing Business, which he described as a major focus of the structural reforms discussed during the meeting.
According to Dasgupta, making it easier for businesses to operate could ultimately benefit the state and contribute to a more efficient business environment.

Dasgupta also highlighted compliance as an important issue for West Bengal. He said there is now greater awareness about GST compliance, which has often been a challenge for the state.
